Balanced attack propels Evarts to win at JACES

Jaylin Smith scored 15 points while Jaylin Preston and Aaliyah Cloud added 11 each as the Evarts Lady Cats passed one of their toughest tests of the season with a 44-18 win Thursday at James A. Cawood, improving to 13-0.

Keely North scored 14 points to lead the 12-2 Trojanettes.

Kylie Jones scored 18 as JACES (14-1) won 40-16 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Ashley Preston led Evarts with seven points.

James A. Cawood plays host to Cawood on Monday. Evarts travels to Green Hills on Monday.

Smith, Preston team for 25 in win over Wallins

Jaylin Smith scored 14 points and Jaylin Preston added 11 as Evarts rolled past visiting Wallins 43-10 on Tuesday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Tatum Griffin led the Lady Devils with nine points.

Carly Madden and Ashley Preston each scored nine points as Evarts won 26-12 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Evarts won 5-2 in the fourth-grade game.

Wallins plays host to Cumberland on Monday.

Led by 11 points from Keely North, James A. Cawood (12-1) defeated visiting Black Mountain 31-18 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Monday.

Isabell Kirby led the Tigerettes with 11 points.

Skylar Shepherd poured in 18 points as JACES (13-1) won 41-9 in fifth and sixth-grade action. Ella Karst contributed 10 points.

Black Mountain returns to action Tuesday at home against Green Hills.
